Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya, mni.
Perm. Sec. Fed. Min of Finance - Since 2/22/2024

Lydia Shehu Jafiya, mni, is currently the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance. She has rich experience in the public service, spanning over three decades, and was elevated Permanent Secretary in August 2022. Before joining Ministry of Finance, she had served at Federal Ministry of Information & Culture as well as Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation respectively.

During her career, she has served on various Committees including the 2023 Presidential Transition Council and Chaired the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee.

Mrs. Jafiya, mni, joined the Federal Civil Service as Finance Officer II on 12th December 1990. She rose through the ranks and was at different times was at a time Director of Finance and Accounts at the Pensions Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD).

Lydia Shehu Jafiya, mni, holds a Masters and Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, with specialization in Banking and Finance, from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria. She belongs to several professional bodies and associations among which include being an Alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Fellow, Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), among others.
