Departmental Directors

Jimoh Musa Itopa
Director, Capacity Development - Since 11/24/2023

Musa holds a BSc in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and an MBA from Enugu State University of Technology, Nigeria. He also has a certificate in Public Leadership from the Harvard Kennedy School, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. Additionally, he attended the Advanced Management Program at the Lagos Business School, Nigeria, and is a fellow of the Fletcher School at Tufts University, Massachusetts, USA.

With several years of work experience in the banking and payment services industry, Musa has worked at First Bank Nigeria, FSB International Bank Nigeria, ValuCard Nigeria Ltd, and is currently employed at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

He has undergone various international trainings, including the Payment System and Oversight training by the Federal Reserve Bank in New York, training on Payment System Policy, Consumer Credit, and Impact on the Payment system at George Mason University in Washington DC, and Project Management and Procurement training from the Institute of Public-Private Partnership (IP3) in Washington DC.

Musa served as the Chairman of the Nigerian e-Fraud Forum (NeFF) and the Nigerian Payments Initiatives Coordinating Committee (PICC). He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and the Nigerian Institute of Directors. He also represented CBN on the board of the National Identity Management Commission of Nigeria.

He has been instrumental in implementing various payment system initiatives such as the Nigerian Payment System Regulatory Sandbox, Open Banking, Contactless payments, and more. He played a significant role in the Technical Working Committee on the Nigerian Central Bank Digital Currency (eNaira), and he initiated the implementation of the Bank's Payments System Vision 2025.

Currently, Musa holds the position of Director of Capacity Development at the Central Bank of Nigeria.
