Dr. Blaise Ijebor
Director, Risk Management - Since 7/1/2021

DR. BLAISE IJEBOR is the Director, Risk Management Department at the Central Bank of Nigeria; where he coordinates the Bank’s efforts directed at identifying, evaluating and mitigating risks including information security and cyber threats; associated with the Bank’s operations and the various activities it undertakes in pursuit of its mandate.

A skilled and experienced risk manager, Blaise is a highly sought-after speaker on everything ‘risk management’. He comes to this role with over 25 years of experience working within the financial sector.

Before joining the CBN in 2011, Blaise was based in the UK where he worked at several big brands such as Citibank, Barclays and BNP Paribas and held very senior level positions including EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) Head of Risk and Controls for Citibank Operations and Technology and Global Chief Risk Officer for Barclays Wealth Advisory.

Since joining the CBN in 2011, Blaise has held several senior roles including, Head, IT, Cybersecurity and Payments Systems Risk Division (2013 – 2018); Chair, AML/CFT National Risk Assessment Secretariat (2013 – 2015); PSV 2020: Chair, Risk Management and Cybersecurity Specialist Interest Working Group (2015 – 2020); Member, Payment Systems Infrastructure Consultative Council; Head, Methodology Team on Risk Based Supervision (2018 – 2021), as well as Bank Examiner to several Banks.

Blaise holds a PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree from the University of Benin and an MBA from the prestigious Cranfield Business School in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of the Association of Enterprise Risk Management Professionals, an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), a certified ITIL and Prince II Practitioner an Information Security (ISO 27001) Lead Implementer and Auditor, Cyber Security Strategy and thoroughbred Risk Manager.
