Chibuike D. Nwaegerue CFA
Director, Other Financial Institutions Supervision - Since 7/15/2023

Mr. Chibuike Dickson Nwaegerue is the Director Other Financial Institution Supervisions Department of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He is a graduate of Accounting from the prestigious University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus, an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Nigeria (ICAN), and a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

His over 20 years of industry- wide experience spans auditing, commercial banking and public sector financial regulation and supervision. During his stint at the Banking Supervision Department, he served in multiple projects and committees including Project Manager IFRS Implementation, and member Alpha Project Team which implemented landmark reforms following the 2009 banking crisis in Nigeria. He was later deployed to serve as the Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor, Financial System Stability Directorate of the Bank, where he provided technical advisory support and represented the DG on various committees.

A committed professional with a problem-solving mindset, Chibuike is passionate about creating impact through teamwork and knowledge sharing.

Guidlines for Licensed Banks:In 1990, the CBN introduced a set of Prudential guidelines for licensed banks which were complimentary to the capital adequacy requirement and statement of accounting standards. The guidelines spelt out the criteria to be adopted by banks in classifying non-performing loans.
