Alan Greenspan:
Dr. Alan Greenspan was born on March 6,1926, in New York City. He received a B.S. in economics (summa cum laude) in 1948, an M.A. in economics in 1950,and a Ph.D in economics in 1977, all from New York University. Dr. Greenspan also has performed advanced graduate study at Columbia University. Alan Greenspan took office in June 19, 2004 for a fifth term as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Reserve Bank. He originally took office as Chairman to fill an unexpired term as member of the board on August 11, 1987. Dr. Greenspan was reappointed to the Board to a full 14 year term, which began on the 1st of February 1992 and ended January 31, 2006. He has been designated Chairman by Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton and Bush.

The Bank of International Settlements (BIS):
The Bank of International Settlements was established on the 17th of May 1930. It is the oldest international financial organisation in the world. It fosters international monetary and financial co-operation and serves as the bank for all central banks of the world. The head office is in Basle, Switzerland and has two representative offices, one in the Hong Kong Special Adminstrative Region of the Peoples Republic of China and the other in Mexico City, Mexico.
