Prof. Mike I. Obadan

Prof. Michael Obadan was born on the 20th September, 1950 at Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. He graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI) in 1973 with a Second Class Upper Division in Economics and obtained his Phd. in Economics from the same university.

Prof. Obadan’s diverse wealth of knowledge afforded him the opportunity to serve in various positions both locally and internationally. He was the Director-General, National Centre for Economic Management and Administration (NACEMA) (1992-2004), Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ibadan, (1990-1992), Research Director/Adviser of New Nigeria Bank Limited (1990-1992) and Chairman, Economics Policy Analysis and Management Network (EPANET), Harare, Zimbabwe, (2006-2011) amongst others.

Prof. Obadan is a fellow and member of many professional bodies which includes Nigerian Economic Society, Institute of Management Consultants, Nigerian Statistical Association, West African Economic Association, Social Science Academy, Royal Economic Society and American Economic Association. He published and edited many books; among the published books are Principles of Economics: A Multiple Choice Approach, Macroeconomic Policy Analysis: Tools, Techniques and Application to Nigeria, Applied Economics and Economic Policy, Planning and Budgeting in Nigeria: Institutional and Policy Reforms. Prof. Obadan has also published many articles in books and journals locally and internationally and has attended several seminars and conferences. A widely travelled academician, Prof. Obadan received many awards in recognition of his contribution to national development which include; Distinguished Leadership Award, Nigeria’s Best Teacher Award, People, State and Resources (PSR) Development in Nigeria Merit Award.

Professor Obadan is married with children.
