Emefiele calls for CBN, Police Committee

 

The Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has canvassed the resuscitation of the Inter-Agency Committee to improve on the logistic needs of the Nigeria Police.

 

He made the call in Abuja on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, when the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris and his management team paid the Governor a courtesy call at the CBN Head Office.

 

While recalling that the CBN and the Deposit Money Banks had always collaborated with the Police on the other, Mr. Emefiele emphasized the need to revamp the activities of the committee in order to come up with far-reaching recommendations on possible areas of partnership between the banks and the police.

Speaking earlier, the Acting IGP, Mr. Idris said he was at the CBN to request the Bank to collaborate with the Force in providing logistical support to the Police to enable it perform its mandate of securing lives and property.

 

The duo of Alhaji Suleiman Barau and Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, Deputy Governors in charge of Operations and Corporate Services, respectively, were present during the brief courtesy call.

 

Also present were the Director, Security Services Department, Mr. Ibitayo Amu; Director, Procurement and Support Services Department (PSSD), Mr. Lazarus Agbor; Acting Director, Information Technology Department, Mr. Yila Yusuf; and the Acting Director, Corporate Communications Department, Mr. Isaac Okorafor.
